Congratulations to MAE Farm (Mike Jones & Family) for winning the 2021 NC Small Farmer of the Year award. Here are a few comments made during the awards ceremony held on March 24th. “Mike is a successful farmer who raises animals in a way that is beneficial to both the animals and the land. His innovative practices include pasture rotation and multi-species grazing, allowing pastures to recover, reducing soil erosion and loss of soil fertility. He is a faithful supporter of small farmers in the region and his store at the State Farmers Market in Raleigh sells not only his own products, but those of other small farmers.
