Do you produce any kind of hay or straw and ship it out of your
county or the state?
Bales of straw and hay, including pine straw, are articles regulated by the State and Federal governments because of the risk they pose of spreading Red Imported Fire Ants (RIFA). The North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) has quarantined partially, or in full, 75 out of 100 counties in North Carolina due to the presence of RIFA in cooperation with the USDA’s federal quarantine.
