2026 Winter Horse Educational Series

Horse owners in the area are invited to participate in the 2026 Winter Horse Educational Series at the Franklin County Extension Center Annex, 103 S. Bickett Blvd., Louisburg. Meetings will begin with a sponsored meal at 5:30 p.m., followed by the educational programs. Cost $20 per session includes dinner. Meetings will be conducted on the following dates.

Thursday, February 5th - speakers, Dr. Sue Ellen Johnson, Regenerative Farm Systems Advisor, Cary, NC and author, 'Crop Rotation on Organic Farms' and Kyle Bostian, General Manager, Yellow Dog Pasture & Land Management, Youngsville, "Understanding Equine Forage Pasture Management throughout the year: Save $$." Thursday, February 26th - Speaker, Dr. Paul Siciliano, Professor - Equine Nutrition and Management Department, Extension Leader, NCSU, "Get the scoop on sugars, starch and other carbohydrates in hay for horses”, and “Overview of Forage Carbohydrate Analyses - what they are, and how to use them in feeding horses.” Register by Feb. 25th at the following link. go.ncsu.edu/2026-horse-series-meeting2

Annual  EIA/Coggins Clinic


On Saturday, February 14th- The annual EIA/Coggins Clinic will be conducted at the Franklin County Farmers Market Shelter, in Louisburg from 1 - 3 pm, by the NC Mobile Veterinary Service team (services include dental exam/teeth floating by reservation only.) Call the Franklin County Cooperative Extension office, 919-496-3344 to reserve your services and time slot.
