Franklin County 4-H’er, Emma Haynes attended the National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C. in April. Emma said, “National 4-H Conference 2023 was a trip to remember! From getting 10 million blisters on my feet to meeting our senators and representatives including Senator Ted Budd, it was a trip I will never forget. My roundtable topic was Accurate & Inclusive History Education, so we presented our thought-out presentation to the Smithsonian Institution on Monday, April 17th. I have made so many lifelong friends from all over the United States and its territories. Seeing Representative Nancy Pelosi and Representative Dan Crenshaw while in the gallery (in session, I might add) was something I thought I would never be able to do. I want to thank everyone involved in NC AIRE, North Carolina 4-H as a whole, Dr. Yoder, Mrs. Peggy Lewis-Joyce and NC 4-H Juntos for either getting me to Washington, D.C. or assisting me while in our nation’s capital. This trip was a once in a lifetime opportunity, so I appreciate every bit of it.”

Franklin County 4-H is proud of Emma’s hard work to be able to attend the National 4-H Conference and we are glad her experience was a wonderful one.
