Upcoming community events hosted by the Rutherford County Food Council Voices at the table event graphic

This summer, be a change agent in your community by attending a Community Conversation on Rutherford Food and Farming! The conversations will create space for community members to come together for a meal, voice thoughts, and share ideas related to strengthening food and agriculture in Rutherford County. These events are being organized by the Rutherford County Food Council, in partnership with community organizations, as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen community networks and promote coalition-building within the food system. Ideas brainstormed during the conversations will be incorporated into the strategic planning and project development processes of the Food Council in the months and years to come, and resources compiled related to food and agriculture will be shared with conversation attendees and the community at large.

These conversations are designed for all community members to attend: no previous knowledge or experience with food and agriculture is required! Events are designed with the host site communities in mind; however, all community members are welcome. All three events will follow the same format, so we welcome folks to attend the one session that works best for them. The conversations will be highly participatory!

We aim for these sessions to empower community members to be change agents in our community and create space for individuals to find where they can fit in Rutherford food and agriculture. The Food Council will gather all the information shared at the events and utilize it to determine our projects and priorities for the next few years. If you’re able to join in that fun, we’d love to have you either at one of our events or as a part of the council as we determine where to go from here with our work.

All participants will be nourished with a meal during the events and will receive a $15 voucher to spend at the RC Farmers Market as a thank you for your participation.
