4-H Summer Fun

It’s that time of year again to sign up for our summer fun programs. Below is a listing of our planned programs and short description. Programs can be registered for online at:  go.ncsu.edu/summerfun22

Kayaking Adventures:
Participants will learn paddling basics and use their new skills while exploring various waterways in Camden. This is open to youth ages 12-18. The drop-off spot is Camden Intermediate School. From there, the van will take students to the paddling location. Locations for each trip will be in announced prior to the departure date. This group will meet on the following Wednesdays (6/1, 6/8, 6/15, 6/29, 7/6, 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3) throughout the Summer from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Stem Camp: 6/2/22, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Ages: 10-15 Cost 5.00

Join us at Treasure Point 4-H Camp for 2 days filled with hands-on STEM activities. Test your engineering skills, experience the “explosive” side of science, and see what it takes to be a scientist.

County Activity Day: 6/3/22, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Location: TBD

Participating in District Activity Day on 6/17? County Activity Day is a great way to get in practice before the big event. Participants will present their topics in front a panel of judges from our local community and receive feedback on how to make their presentations excel at the District day.

Hike the Point: 6/6/22, 9:00-10:30 a.m. Location: Treasure Point 4-H park  Ages: 5-9

This guided hike through the forests of Treasure Point 4-H park is a great way for kids to get outside, exercise, and learn about the local plants and animals located in our area.

Art in the Park: 6/10/22, 9:00a.m.-12:00p.m. Location: Treasure Point Park Ages: 5-18  Cost 5.00

Is your child creative or just love making things? Painting, jewelry making, drawing, and creating found art sculptures are just a few of the projects that we have planned for kids during Art at the Park.

District Activity Day: 6/17/22, 8:30a.m.-3:00p.m. Currituck County Middle School: 4263 Caratoke Hwy. Barco, NC

Do you have a child that would be interested in giving a presentation on a topic of their choosing? We are looking for youth to do demonstrations and give speeches on their interests. A large number of categories ensure that there is something for everyone. Public speaking is a great way for young people to develop leadership skills and self-confidence. It is a life skill that will help kids to be successful now and into the future. Prizes are awarded to individuals ranking in the top of their category and winners will have opportunity to compete on a state level.

Painting at the Park: 6/30/22, 9:00-11:00 a.m. Location: Treasure Point Ages: 10-18 Cost 5:00

Join us at Treasure point for this workshop where kids will get the opportunity to learn painting technique or just practice their artistic skills. All materials are provided for our young artists and each participant will produce their own canvas painting to take home.

Dismal Swamp Day: 7/7/22, 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (Times may change based on Ranger availability) Location: Dismal Swamp State Park Ages: 8-18  Cost: TBD

Join us for a fun-filled day exploring the Dismal Swamp. Park rangers will lead us through trails, teach us about the various animals that call the swamp home, and take us exploring the canals in kayaks.
