"14th Annual Franklin County Horse Farm Tour - Sat., August 2nd"Tour brochure and agenda for horse farm tourArea horse owners will have the opportunity to visit four horse farms in Franklin County on Saturday, August 2nd. The theme of this year's tour is "Exploring Equine Farms in Northern Franklin County." The annual popular driving tour will be begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. and should conclude around 2 p.m. Participant registration will be from 7:30 a.m. -- 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the Agriculture Building at 103 S. Bickett Blvd. (401/56 East) in Louisburg. In addition to four new equine farms being visited, educational programs will be conducted at each stop. They include "drought pasture management", "new organic fly control", "fire ant ID and control", "upcoming grant opportunities", and much more. Riding demonstrations will also be given to tour participants. A sponsored chicken/roast beef lunch will be conducted at the last stop, Stop #5, at the Franklin County Cooperative Extension Center. There is a $10 per person fee to attend. If you plan to attend, you must call Martha L. Mobley, Agricultural Extension Agent, Franklin County, at 919-496-3344 or email martha_mobley@ncsu.edu to reserve your lunch before July 30th. Participants will be asked to carpool to the various stops. After the tour's conclusion, the tour participants as well as the general public are invited to attend the 1st Annual "Farm Life" Photography Recognition and Awards Ceremony from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Louisburg College Auditorium Gallery on Main Street in Louisburg. Over eighty-five (85) wonderful photographs were taken during the 5th Annual Franklin County Farm Foods & Crafts Tour held in May 2008 and will be displayed. Contest winners will be announced along with cash prizes given to the top winners. Light refreshments will be served. The ceremony is free to the public. |
